London Fashion Weekend 2012

Never did I think I would be photographing a catwalk at London Fashion Weekend, let alone so soon!
Last month I entered three of my photographs into a competition through Fixation; http://www.fixationuk.com who are a major sponsor of Professional Photographer Magazine. Truthfully I didn’t think I’d have a chance at winning, but how would I know unless I tried. By the day the winners were supposed to be have been contacted, I constantly checked my emails but never received a reply.
Two weeks later I received a call from Jonny Helm and was told that my pass for London Fashion Weekend would be sent in the post for Somerset House!

It was such a surreal experience, not only to be setting off for London so quickly for the Fashion Weekend, but to actually be photographing the models at the end of the catwalk in the photographers pit! When the lights dimmed and the music began I was extremely nervous. I was surrounded by taller 30/40/50-year-old professional looking photographers with large lenses all competing to get the best photographs. Thankfully I got into the swing of things.

London Fashion Week 2012!

I entered the Fixation Fashion Weekend Photo Competition last month, thinking that I wouldn’t have a chance in coming close to winning, but it was worth a shot… When it came to the 6th of February (the day the winners would have been notified by), after continuously checking my phone to see if I had received an email, I was pretty unhappy that I missed out on such a great opportunity. Little did I know how wrong I was!
I received a phone call yesterday from John, a gentleman from Fixation, telling me he’d send my pass in the post for London Fashion Week. I thought he had mixed me up with someone else. But it turns out I had won a place to photograph the catwalk in the press pit at Somerset House in London, this Friday! I couldn’t stop smiling for hours after I found out the news.
